Graduation Day is always a day to remember, filled with special memories as the Year 12 students come together for one last time before embarking on the next chapter of their lives. It has been a remarkable six years and I feel very privileged to have been able to share this experience with this Year 12 cohort.
The day began with a whole College Assembly, where Head Prefects; Vahlenna Tankam and Comfort Nyashanu delivered their final address to the College on behalf of the Graduating class. It was touching listening to them take a little wander down memory lane and share some of the fond experiences of the students’ time at the College. It was also fitting that Vahlenna and Comfort took time to thank those that have been influential in supporting and guiding them during their time at Emmanuel. In particular, thanks were given to the Pastoral Care teachers who assisted and helped them navigate their way through their six years at the College.
Assembly was followed by Mass, celebrated with all Year 12 students and their extended families. A special thank you to Father Vijay from St Jerome’s Parish for celebrating this Mass with us and blessing our gift to the students, the Graduation Bears. Time was then spent writing sentiments to their peers on their Graduation Bears.
The final part of the College’s Graduation celebrations was the Graduation Ceremony, followed by the wonderful supper, provided by Hospitality staff and students. During the evening formalities, we formally acknowledged the achievements of the Year 12 students, as well as celebrating the end of their time at Emmanuel Catholic College, a very special night.
To the Class of 2021, you will be remembered for the depth of growth and maturity you have displayed in your journey at Emmanuel. You have grown to be compassionate, respectful, and inclusive young adults and as you close this chapter of your life remember to always keep Emmanuel in your heart.
God Bless,
Mrs Sue Kennedy
Head of Year 12
