Dance

Discover the professional dancer within you with our tailored Dance program at Emmanuel. All students from Year 7 are given opportunity to participate in dance classes. In Year 7, students build on the foundations by exploring dance in a 10-week short course. Designed to give students the opportunity to learn from new beginnings or build on previous dance skills.

All students can then elect to take dance in the upper years and to engage in the development of dance technique and performance skills, no matter their level of experience. Our focus in Year 7-8 is exploration, experimentation, key skills-development and building self-confidence.

From Year 9-12, Dance is offered as elective. In Dance, students explore a variety of genres that include but are not limited to the following: Contemporary and Modern, Lyrical, Jazz and Street styles. They are also offered opportunities to choreograph and present original dance compositions and routines.

VET Dance is offered to those wishing to continue with dance in the upper years from year 11-12. The VET Dance program is drawn from a national training package and offers portable qualifications which are recognised throughout Australia. These qualifications provide students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training in the live performance industry.

Students who wish to take their dance skills further and showcase their skills through additional performances can try out for Extracurricular Dance.
