It was the first time the Athletics Carnival has been held in Term 3 and the weather turned it on with a lovely 20 degree day. It was the first Athletics Carnival for our new Houses, Siena and Romero, with Siena dominating the previous two carnivals and looking for the 3-peat.
Lisieux had the lead at the beginning of the day with strong performances in the pre-carnival events. Their levels of participation across all ages were a great contributor to this position. In what is a big day full of novelty games, track races, throwing and jumping events, there is always plenty of action.
This year we implemented the Walk-The-Talk Event which allowed students to stay physically active in the afternoon and socialise with their peers while walking laps of the soccer oval. This was very popular, and in a two hour period, students walked a total of 4,984 laps!
Due to their massive effort in the Walk-The-Talk Event, More House took out the Tassie Devil Award for the novelty events. The Champion House Shield was dominated by Lisieux who led throughout the entire day. Congratulations to all of the Lisieux students and staff!
All students showed terrific sportsmanship and strived for excellence in every event they participated in. For our YEar 12 students, this was their last carnival at Emmanuel and their enthusiasm and effort to dress up was great for the younger students to see.
