The Emmanuel Catholic College Interhouse Cross Country was back in a big way in 2021. We were able to hold the event as an entire College and were blessed with perfect weather. It was the first time Siena and Romero House participated in the event and the first time it was run in Term 2. All participants walked or ran the 3.3km course and represented their House with pride. For those participants that were new or forgot how hard the course is – they were well and truly reminded once they ran through the soft sand at the beginning of the course. This was reinforced by how tired the students (and staff) were coming down the final straight.
The Tassie Devil Award is based on the percentage of students from each House that complete the course. The House that embraces the event and has the greatest participation on the day are crowned the winners. Congratulations to Lisieux House that were able to dress Tassie in their red colours.
New kids on the block Siena were exceptional on the day taking out a tight win over Lisieux and crowned Cross Country Champion House. Congratulations to all Siena staff and students.
Despite a strong headwind for the second half of the course, two (2) records were broken on the day. Congratulations to Darcy Sallur (Romero) who broke the Year 12 Male record with a time of 12:01 and Olivia McCay (Lisieux) who broke the Year 7 Female record with a time of 13:55. An exceptional effort by these two runners.
