Head of the Arts
Tell us a bit about your background, where did you come from?
I arrived at Emmanuel after working in the Kimberley. As Head of The Arts & Technologies at St. Mary’s College in Broome, I established their Dance Touring Program for the department. Partnerships and tours were initiated to allow the students from the remote areas, the opportunity to connect to The Arts beyond the constraints of distance. Tours involved groups trips to Perth, Sydney, Japan, London and Paris, with a trip to New York having to be postponed due to Covid in 2020.
What are your aspirations at Emmanuel and what do you hope to achieve?
My passion is to develop opportunities for all student that have an interest, or a talent, in the realm of Performing Arts and Visual Arts to succeed. I am keen to engage professional partnerships with career driven artists, to establish a Performing Arts Collective. My priority is to engage those students, demonstrating motivation and commitment, with skills to work in a collaborative environment. I believe, by using The Arts as a conduit, I can create mentors and leaders of those students that are keen to be actively involved.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I am a qualified VET (Vocational Education Trainer) in Dance, Visual Arts and Textiles for Training.Gov. I also have a passion for teaching Religious Education and relish the conversations about the commonalities across global religions, within our world.
I love my career and I am fortunate not to feel like I go to work each day! It is a joy to be surrounded by young minds, interesting conversations and to have the opportunity to live and learn alongside these young people, who will be our future community leaders.
